WelTec has an excellent reputation and has been a leader in the vocational education sector for over 100 years. We offer a range of programmes to almost 11,000 students each year. Our programmes include Health and Social Services, Business Management and Administration, Hospitality, Travel and Tourism, Carpentry, Built Environment, Construction, Creative Technology, Engineering, Automotive, and Information Technology.
WelTec also has strong links to industry and is well-regarded in the marketplace. Students work on real projects and employers often recruit our graduates directly from WelTec.
Our objective is supporting and encouraging the teaching and learning of our students as they strive to achieve great success from their studies and therefore enhance their career and employment opportunities (and for some that opportunity may just be at WelTec). We also offer work experience to students so they can get a feel of the working environment.
Our staff come from a wide range of backgrounds - some from industry who have never worked in a learning environment and others with an academic background. They are specialists and researchers in their fields and we are investing in exciting new technology to ensure we remain at the leading edge of training and learning in New Zealand
At WelTec, our job is to ensure that our staff have the relevant skills and expertise to do their job. We provide learning and development opportunities for staff and where appropriate qualification opportunities to support career changes. We have approximately 450 staff working across our Petone, Auckland and Wellington campuses.

When the terms starts and the students are around, there is an extra special buzz and hive of activity. All hands are on deck. Administrative teams, student classes and learning environment share the space floor spaces.
