MEDIA ADVISORY: BA5

You are warmly invited to a great BA5 at the Wellington Institute of Technology’s (WelTec) Petone Campus. Come and enjoy our famous hospitality, check out new facilities, and find out what is really hot in new careers and courses that win great jobs for our graduates.

Plus you can watch a battle of the robots and hear from industry experts on what is new on the R&D front and which careers students should really be focussing on to future-proof their studies. If you haven’t visited the WelTec campus for a while or at all this is a great opportunity to come along and get acquainted.

Speakers will include:

Linda Sissons, Chief Executive Wellington Institute of Technology
Linda has a fresh perspective on tertiary education provision and the contribution Institutes of Technology can make to the innovation ecosystem. The R&D landscape in our region is changing and there are opportunities out there for new partnerships and different ways of working.

Michael Kerr, Beca Regional Manager Wellington
Mike has a passion for working with people who thrive on technical challenges. Mike speaks about the engineering industry and the impact of the win last month by a WelTec student for the second year in a row of the nationally significant IPENZ Ray Meyer medal of Excellence in Student Design. Anthony Muir shared the award with a 7-strong team of PhD students from Canterbury University – an amazing experience for the third-year student on the very new Bachelor of Engineering Technology programme.

Allie Foote Inaugural recipient of the Beca Engineering Technology Scholarship
Allie is in her second year at WelTec studying on the Bachelor of Engineering Technology and has a bright future in engineering ahead of her. Allie will speak about what it’s like to be on the programme and to win the first Beca engineering scholarship and her student project.
