International Student Profiles
"My name is Vairaatoa Pomare and I came from Tahiti to WelTec to study the Diploma in Applied Management. I have enjoyed the course and found the tutors always helpful and willing to give me lots of assistance when I needed it."
"There are lots of resources available at the library and on the internet. The staff at the Learning Support Centre were also really helpful when I was doing my assignment, or when I had problems doing an assignment. I enjoyed doing the group work in the class with people from other cultures. I found New Zealand’s teaching methods different from those in Tahiti - it makes learning easier because you have such a lot of support from the tutors.
I have made friends here from all over the world. I lived in the Britannia Park Student Accommodation. There were three students in my apartment and we came from different South Pacific countries. The apartments were about 500 metres from WelTec.
WelTec has trips for international students to visit New Zealand and I joined one for nine days to the South Island. I enjoyed the skiing, jetboating, walking the Fox Glacier and bungy jumping. The scenery was beautiful and we drove through lots of snow.
Wellington is a windy city but I like it here. It is close to the Wairarapa which has nice landscape and vineyards.
I am pleased I came to WelTec and met so many people from different cultures. I was the only student from Tahiti studying here."
