Introducing Reza, who teaches courses in the Bachelor of IT and Postgraduate Diploma in IT, focusing on Web Programming and IT Research Projects.
Reza enjoys the highly interactive nature of his role and says he is constantly learning from his students. “I believe the purpose of education is to develop the student’s soft skills and prepare them for a job or career to serve social and economic needs. I’m regularly exploring different teaching strategies in order to keep things fresh and get the best out of my students.”
On top of teaching, Reza has recently completed two conference publications, in conjunction with postgraduate students. He travelled to Portugal in November 2017 to deliver a presentation on Link Open Data and is off to France in May 2018 to deliver a presentation on Web Design.
Reza’s upcoming presentation explores the WelTec website’s user experience for Asian students. Over the past five months Reza and his postgraduate students have conducted research on cultural based Web Design, which has involved interviewing 80 students.
Reza’s research publications ensure that he is continually challenging himself and staying relevant as an IT professional. Attending international IT conferences allows Reza to network with some of the world top thinkers in IT; acquiring knowledge he can then pass on to his students and fellow tutors.
Reza has been teaching at WelTec for the past four years. Prior to that, he was a senior IT lecturer at Taylor’s University in Malaysia, and a Project Manager/ Consultant at an IT company in Auckland. Reza has a Bachelor of Software Engineering, a Masters in Artificial Intelligence (thesis topic: Software Architecture) – and a PhD in Information Systems (thesis topic: Semantic Web).
