We're celebrating the achievement of our graduating students at Wellington's Michael Fowler Centre on Wednesday 11 April.

The success of WelTec students is being celebrated at two separate ceremonies – the first starting at noon and the second starting at 4pm.

Over the course of three graduation ceremonies (two in Wellington on Wednesday and one in Auckland on 23 May) 550 students will attend in person to receive their qualification. 1850 guests will be joining graduates to celebrate their success at the ceremonies on Wednesday at the Michael Fowler Centre.

Ceremony One, 12 noon, will see graduates from the following programmes being recognised:

• Addictions, Counselling and Health Studies
• Animal Health and Husbandry
• Business Studies
• Special education and foundation studies
• Information Technology
• Office Administration and Computing
• Social Services
• Youth Development

Guest speaker at this ceremony is Jen Rutherford. With more than 25+ years working in the New Zealand technology industry Jen is passionate about the possibilities for New Zealand through a digital and technology-enabled future. Jen is the Chairperson of the Hi-Tech Trust, is a member of the Board of the Wellington ICT Graduate School, and a trustee of the Eureka Trust.

Ceremony Two, 4pm, will see graduates from the following programmes being recognised:

• Built Environment
• Construction Trades
• Creative Technologies
• Engineering Technologies
• Engineering Trades
• Exercise Science
• Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and Make-up Artistry
• Hospitality and Tourism

Guest speaker at this ceremony is Justin Lester, Mayor of Wellington City. Justin was elected Mayor in 2016. He joined Wellington City Council as a Northern Ward Councillor in 2010, going on to serve as Deputy Mayor from 2013 until 2016. His priorities include growing a strong economy, making housing affordable, improving Wellington’s transport network, and ensuring Wellington remains New Zealand’s Capital of Culture and becomes the first predator-free city in the world.
